Jambo,
Hi everyone, hope all are well.
Sorry not been on for a couple of days. WE have had some power cuts here so unable to get online.
We are having problems with water due to the draught, people here are praying for rain!! So no showers or flushing loos back at the host house.
Took it easy over the weekend, chilled down a little. I have not had a panic attack recently so I am settling in to it. I hate being couped up at night!!! In doors about 6.30 till next day is no fun!!! Decided Friday to get some Doctor Smirnoff in along with his good friend nurse coke that did the trick. Had to hide it though not sure the host family will be ok with it. They just think I have some coke in my mug.
Wend to the Massai market on Saturday, what fun. YOu have to barter there and they feel insulted if you dont, well me and my friends went for it. SO funy it got very heated at times as both parties fought for their 'deal' then every one fell about laughing once we had agreed a bargain. Asked a Massai lady if I could take her picture, had to be careful as illegal to take pictures in Nairobi. She posed for me and said her name is Jane I cracked up, I came all this way to meet a tribal lady with same name as me!!!! Nairobi is lovely, lots of trees and bushes around lovely shades of green.
It gets very hot here but everyone is in the best of spirits so polite and kind especially if you greet them in their language they love and and laugh and the way we speak their language with our accent.
Walking home last night after spending all day with my friend NIcky, a lmonkey suddlenly appeared at the side of me, managed to get a photo. Not sure what type he was but he was big!!!
Wend to the pictures yesterday to see Gran Tourino, sorry Matt I never go I know cause I normally cant stick inside cinemas but it was a great release to sit down and chill out with air conditioning!!! Luxury!!! Great film by the way.
When i went into the orphanage I was told off cause I not go in Friday ( had a project to do) they told me they had missed me, that felt so good.
The children are starting to get to know me , they are all such pleasure. I am sure they are teaching me more than I am them.
A teacher asked me to take P.E today, as usual I worried I could not to it as well as I might. IT turned out to be just a singing as we went round and round in circles and playing tug of war, I showed them a quick clapping game just so I could get my breath back!!!
Tomorrow the other volunteers are giving the children a party dinner, party food , face painting, games etc should be fun!!! They will love it.
The teachers love to talk to me at their break times and want to know all about England they said they can understand me better the the American's , I said thats cause they kind of sing as they speak, they fell about laughing.
Bet you guys think we do nothing but laugh, well we have a got time, but the people here suffer so much sometimes not eating for days. The teachers sometimes fall asleep they had not been paid for weeks,
If any of you guys from Coke are looking in, Coke is every where, even in the Slum sells for around 20p. Burn is here also sells at about a pound. In the slum is a building that has been sponsored by Coke, cant take a picture as not safe to do so in the slum. People do not like it they think we are looking down on them, they say they are not a circus. Fair enough. People do not like having there photo taken, I even had to pay the Massai lady for her photo.
Well must go .
Sorry about any mis- spelling cant wait to do spellcheck as this has taken 50 mins to do. Internet is SO slow here.
Bye for now
Jane

I know your working and such, but sounds like your having a good time as well.
Looking forward to hearing all about it xxx
Hi HOney
THanks for your message, the work is not too hard, the heat does not help and its hard to try and find some structure to the day. I hate the evenings cant sleep for the noise and the some of the ignorant people who are staying at the house.
THe people here have it tough but they keep going.
xxxx LOve you
Hi Jane,
